Modern Oasis
in a Classic Townhouse

The Unknown Makers team was appointed to lead a complete refurbishment process of the 4-storey London townhouse and tasked with the challenge of transforming it into a peaceful sanctuary for relaxation and enjoyment. Client wished of a home flooded with air and light, especially in the lower levels, seamlessly connected to a hidden gem – a sunken courtyard.

A big part of a successful refurbishment is understanding how to connect the Clinet's vision with the existing fabric of the building. Our designers carefully wove modern functionality and design principles into the house, respecting its heritage while breathing fresh life into it.

Bridging Old and New

We started by opening up the ground floor and basement, drawing the sunken courtyard into the heart of the home. Sunlight enters through expansive windows, blurring the lines between indoors and out.

Respecting the Past

Transforming a historic home requires meticulous care. Our design team carefully preserved the building's character features, weaving them into the modern fabric of the space. The Makers worked hand-in-hand with the Construction team, ensuring every step respected the building's age and character. This close collaboration resulted in a high-quality execution, honouring both the spirit of the original structure and Clinet's modern vision.
