Riverside Retreat:
Transforming a London End-of-Terrace

Nestled near Richmond Riverside, a young couple found their ideal house: a cosy two-bedroom end-of-terrace on the outskirts of the beautiful area of Teddington. Despite the house's compact size, they needed space to breathe and create a better connection with the outdoors, especially their new garden. With the help of Unknown Makers, the young homeowners embarked on a journey to make their vision a reality and refurbish their new London home.

The proposed layout reimagines the ground floor as one open space, with the staircase taking centre stage as a bespoke joinery feature. Every element: the kitchen, the skylights, and the material choices is carefully curated to complement the garden view, creating an instant sense of tranquillity upon entering.

Preserving the character

To navigate the Planning process, we employed a strategic mix of Permitted Development and Planning applications. This ensured our design aligned with local guidelines while introducing unique adjustments that stayed true to our key design principles.

Light and Air

The Top Floor continues the narrative of openness, flowing effortlessly from the ground level. A semi-open bathroom and generous glass partitions eliminate visual barriers, allowing homeowners to bask in natural light and sky views from every corner of their home.

By listening to the homeowners' aspirations and navigating the Planning process with care, Unknown Makers has created a space that's both intimate and expansive, a successful reflection of their Client's vision.
