Beyond Function:
A Modern Office Space
Right in the heart of Hackney, Plastic Pictures, an award-winning multimedia company, dreamt of a London home for their growing team. They craved a workspace that mirrored their vibrant spirit, nestled within the city's historic urban fabric. The answer was a four-story Shoreditch townhouse, ready for its new chapter. Originally a gin parlour, the building had witnessed many transformations over the years. Now, it stood as a 4-storey shell, needing a much overdue modern refresh. Unknown Makers, in collaboration with Atelier Parfait, embarked on a meticulous refurbishment journey.
The layout was tailored to the Company's dynamic workflow. Dedicated areas for focused work seamlessly blended with open, collaborative spaces. Embracing the vibrant nature of Shoreditch, the design introduced a cosy bar and relaxation zones, encouraging impromptu brainstorming sessions and fostering a sense of community and ownership.
Our Design Team embraced the old materiality of the townhouse, exposing brickwork and historical timber windows. These were juxtaposed with dark oak flooring, creating a harmonious contrast. Lighter wall panels, louvres, and doors added a touch of airiness, while dark-framed glazed partitions and matching joinery created focused nooks for client meetings and quiet contemplation.
Creativity, the beating heart of Plastic Pictures, permeates every room. Each floor unveils a unique surprise, a testament to the company's adventurous spirit. This adaptable space serves as an open canvas, allowing them to constantly reinvent their work environment and bring fresh ideas to life, just like they do for their clients.
